Bottlebrush Tree has red flowers shaped like a bottle brush. It comes in a 40cm pot and stands about 1.2 metres tall. Birds and bees love the flowers.
Bottlebrush Tree, or Callistemon, gets its name from its bright red flower spikes that really do look like a bottle brush. It is originally from Australia, a country with a hot, dry climate not too different from parts of the UAE.
It comes in a 40cm pot and stands about 1.2 metres tall already, making a strong, attractive addition to a garden corner or beside a driveway, where it can get full sun for most of the day.
Water it 2 to 3 times a week while it is still young and settling into the soil, then reduce to once or twice a week once it is established. Bees and birds are drawn to the flowers, bringing a bit of natural life into a UAE garden.
