Areca Palm (Indoor)

Areca Palm has soft, feathery green fronds that grow in a full, bushy shape, giving any room an instant tropical feel. In its natural home on the island of Madagascar, it grows under bigger trees, used to bright but filtered light.

It comes in a 30cm pot and reaches about 1 metre tall, a good size for a living room corner, near a large window, or a bright hallway in a UAE apartment or villa. Keep it out of strong direct sun, which can turn the tips of the leaves brown.

Water it 2 to 3 times a week in summer, letting the top layer of soil dry between waterings, and less often in winter. It also adds a little natural humidity to a room, a nice bonus in the dry, air conditioned homes common across the UAE.
