Adenium, widely known as Desert Rose, has a thick, swollen trunk that stores water, topped with bright pink trumpet shaped flowers. It comes in a 20cm pot and grows 30 to 40cm tall.
As the name suggests, it is built for hot, dry climates, which makes it especially happy in UAE weather, whether on a sunny balcony, terrace, or garden bed with good drainage.
Water it every 10 to 14 days in the growing season, and much less in cooler winter months when it may drop some leaves and rest. Over the years, the thick base becomes more sculptural and interesting, making older plants especially prized by collectors.
