How to Start a Small Herb Garden on Your Balcony

A lot of our customers live in apartments and think they cannot grow anything. That is not true. Herbs are one of the easiest things to grow in a small space.

What you need

• 3 to 5 pots, 12 to 15cm size
• Good potting soil with drainage
• A spot with at least 4 to 5 hours of sun, morning sun is best in summer

Easy herbs to start with

Sweet Basil, Mint, and Coriander are the easiest. Rosemary is also good if your spot gets strong sun. Keep mint in its own pot, because it spreads fast and can take over other plants.

Watering

Herbs in small pots dry out fast in the UAE heat. Check the soil every day in summer. In winter, every 2 to 3 days is usually enough.

Cut the leaves often, even if you are not using them all. Cutting helps the plant grow more, bushier leaves instead of growing tall and thin.
